Here are the facts according to the 2005 ESA report found on www.theesa.com:
-women make up 43% of game players
-women over the age of 18 make up a larger portion of the gaming population(28%) than boys age 6 to 17 (21%)
-44% of online game players are female
All I'm saying is that you DON'T have to shut out and alienate women gamers in order to appeal to male gamers. It's possible to target men without objectifying and alienating women. And if you wonder why there aren't more female gamers it may be because not only do people not target them, but they push them away from gaming. The growth of the video game industry is starting to slow and taper off(as shown in ESA report), and I think it's about time to open it up to broader demographic and to stop shutting out the ones who try and be included already.
