Journal Keloid Milk's Journal: taro cakes.... 1

ok...what the HELL.

there were these taro cakes at a mall candy/snack shop... the picture on the box made them look so good... the product description itself sounded yummy...

while i expect there to always be some amount of exaggeration for the sake of marketing, this is probably one of the most grossly misadvertised foods i've ever bought. =\ on the box, tasty-looking purple bars. inside, looks like the bars on the box cut into 12 pieces at best, in tiny sickly-looking white squares... ok. well, looks aren't everything. they might still taste good... alas, they did not. they are by no stretch of the imagination 'cake' (or 'fondant' for that matter). it is powder. tiny cubes of compacted powder.

oh, i almost forgot the engrishy product description thingy on the back of the box: Lipu Sweet Taro Cake is made with extra care with the traditional production technology. It has the special sweet flacour of the Lipu Taro. It is tender, mellow, and crisp. i can see how they bullshit 'tender' and 'mellow'... but CRISP? how the holy hell...? let's not forget the product has no expiration date... maybe it's really just a few decades old and that's why it's like i'm eating talc...

and ah, yes...the nutritional information. there seems to be a LOT of fat in talc! a lot of SATURATED fat. for something that high in fat, you'd think there would be some kind of moisture involved.

i think i'll stick to my usual snack foods next time. D: go go pocky!
