I placed two separate orders with Lego on May 1st. The first arrived on the 3rd, the second a day or two later. I didn't realize Amazon was handling the delivery until the second one. Then I went back and looked at the tracking. Unlike FedEx and UPS they don't attach the shipments to your address so you don't get notifications if you have the app installed. But when I followed the tracking link at Lego.com it went to Amazon.
I'm surprised it took them this long to get in on this. It makes a lot of sense, they got quite the distribution network. These were some of the fastest deliveries I've ever gotten from Lego so I appreciate that change.

I remember that from one of Scott Adams' books, like The Dilbert Principle or one of those others he wrote a long while back. It included a lot of emails he received from people describing humorous work situations. That's one that stuck with me.

Solo is a fun heist movie set in the Star Wars universe. I rather enjoyed it. I think it was a bit silly to put so much of Han's backstory in one movie, but it still works pretty well.

TLJ just sucked. Not much of a story, a horrible slow-speed space chase, bad strategy by a weak Resistance, stupid side plot that added nothing to the main story, just so little going for it.

My coworker is active in his party at the county level and he told me a while back that these are all public records in Texas and you can see anyone's voting history.

The Air Force still is flying the A-10 and has over 280 in service. Unfortunately many need new wings and may be grounded before that happens. The Air Force would like to kill it, but surprisingly enough Congress has seen through their b.s. and kept it alive so far.

I get where you are coming from, and agree for the most part, but to me this is quite different. I've always thought it would be nice to have a patio/balcony at different places I've worked at where I could go outside and work for a bit. Just for a break from the office. And now with laptops and wireless networks this is even easier to manage. Unfortunately you can't always add those to existing buildings, depending on the layout. So Microsoft has found a nice, creative way to add some outdoor work spaces for their employees.

Also keep in mind that Microsoft, unlike most tech companies, understands that developers shouldn't be in open floor plans and gives them offices. At least the last I heard about them they did. Maybe some people share an office, but that's not too bad. Plus they give good benefits, 100% insurance coverage, and other perks. So it's not like they are wasting money on making "cool" and "fun" workplaces and not spending it on things that actually matter to employees.

This is his overall wealth, not his income, and it has nothing to do with Amazon's profit. This is largely based on the amount of stock he owns and the current value of that stock. Same for Bill Gates.

Where does it indicate that the state is trying to force them to maintain a staff to support this software?

It seems very wrong to me that the company can tell the state to stop using a piece of software that they have been using for years. They can provide a license that offers no support, no updates and no warranty of any kind.

Did the car not notify her in some way that the key was no longer in the car? I know my Ford does this, it beeps and displays something on the dash if I get out of the car with the key and leave the car running. I'm pretty sure my BMW had a similar feature but I don't have it anymore so I can't verify that.

As a customer of Verizon I can personally tell you that they don't care about you hosting a personal web site. They block port 80, but that's no big deal. I used to host a site with my pictures on it and they never said a thing. But then I wasn't running flickr and dealing in TB's of usage each month.

Verizon has never claimed unlimited, and we now know what it takes to be flagged, and that's 50TB or more for multiple months. So host your family photo albums, your git servers, your own personal cloud storage, whatever, Verizon isn't going to care. But don't try hosting hundreds of TB of media for a large number of people to leech off you.

They're not pushing people to their partners. If you have high bandwidth demands they want you on a business plan, which this guy had, then he switched to a consumer plan to save money, and violated their ToS.

Verizon isn't going to stop people who are hosting a personal site (although they block port 80). They aren't going after people hosting a few friends on a game server. But their ToS do permit them to cancel your service if you are hosting a server, and they use this for people abusing the service, like this guy. Their ToS also prevents you from hosting your own ISP on their consumer line or anything like that.

And look at what this guy did, 50TB for multiple months, then he hit 77TB, and that's when they finally called him on it. If their "unlimited" plan (not that they market it as such) goes up into the 10's of TB, is that really a problem?

Looking back I realize I did a lot more science experiments in high school then I realized. In fact I remember a number of physics experiments I performed involving the reduction in friction created by centripetal forces when near frozen fluids were applied to the surfaces involved.

Is it science every time a redneck says "Hold my beer and watch this."? Not necessarily. And this story could very well be the same kind of thing. The way I've seen this story presented it's meant to get people to think she made a mistake in science class, like mixing the wrong things, and got arrested for that. Then when you read the details it appears to be something quite different.

I don't know if race played into this or not, perhaps it's just another stupid example of zero tolerance.

Was this really a science experiment? She was mixing household chemicals in a plastic bottle on school property. It had nothing to do with her science class. It's more likely she got this stuff out of the janitor's closet or something like that. It sounds more like a kid being stupid rather than one experimenting.

Not that I agree with the penalty in any way. Detention or suspension would be ok here since no real harm came from it. It doesn't merit police involvement, or comparison to an accidental shooting.
