Student Googles Himself, Finds He's Accused of Murder 184

University of Florida student Zachary Garcia was more than a little surprised to find out he was wanted for murder after Googling his name. It turns out the police were looking for a different man but had mistakenly used Garcia's photo. From the article: "Investigators originally released a driver's license photo of Zachary Garcia — spelled with an 'A' — but it was Zachery Garcia — spelled with an 'E'— who was charged in connection with the crime."

Lizard Previously Unknown To Science Found On Vietnam Menu 133

eldavojohn writes "A lizard long served on the menu in the Mekong Delta has recently caught the attention of scientists when it was noted that all animals in the species appeared identical as well as female. The species appears to be a hybrid of two other species (like a mule or liger). But the curious thing is that this hybrid isn't sterile — it reproduces asexually. The species, known for some time in Vietnam, has now officially been named Leiolepis ngovantrii."

Breaking the Squid Barrier 126

An anonymous reader writes "Dr. Steve O'Shea of Auckland, New Zealand is attempting to break the record for keeping deep sea squid alive in captivity, with the goal of being able to raise a giant squid one day. Right now, he's raising the broad squid, sepioteuthis australis, from egg masses found in seaweed. This is a lot harder than it sounds, because the squid he's studying grow rapidly and eat only live prey, making it hard for them to keep the squid from becoming prey themselves. If his research works out, you might one day be able to visit an aquarium and see giant squid."

Nope, unlike Trix it's not just for kids. Depending on whom you ask, between ten and twenty-five percent of kids with ADHD "grow out" of it. But the vast majority of us will have to deal with it our whole lives. Also, the tendency is that later diagnosis = higher IQ, although that's by no means universal. (I think that's why so many computer geeks - those who really do act like they have ADHD - aren't diagnosed; their natural talents/abilities mask the symptoms. "How could someone so smart have a disorder?" "I thought only dumb people could have ADHD!" "But you're an adult, only kids have that!")

If you think it's a real possibility, type "Adult ADHD" into your favorite search engine and see what you find...
