But not because they were better. Things were more exciting 30 years ago because we had time to get excited over every new thing (well, not me, I wasn't born yet, but in general in that "30 years go to 20 years ago" timeframe). Nowadays it's NEW THING! NEW THING! NEWER THING! with such a rapidity that not even we attention-deficit hyperactive millennials can keep up with it well enough to be suitably excited. So to extrapolate backwards, I guess things probably were more exciting then, you lucky old farts.

Debt restructuring bankruptcy isn't enough punishment to ClearChannel for the atrocities they've committed against radio. Radio used to be fun, interesting, and varied only ten years ago. These monsters have gobbled it all up, homogenized it, and destroyed the possibility of being exposed to anything other than the blandest corporate pop whargarbl.

You don't even need AI to destroy jobs.

My code is 100% dumb and thoughtless and I've confirmed that it's destroyed 12 jobs and stopped the creation of about 200 more this year alone, and that's with only one company using it for a small portion of their workload.

Tech kills jobs. It's been doing it since the 1980s. This will either be a a Very Bad Thing, or a Very Good Thing, or more probably just A Thing with life post Thing seeming very different than life pre Thing--more like the social shift following the invention of agriculture than any subsequent development.

AI is just a small part of the broader technological obsolescence of human labor.

Because the only sane position is to spend your life in the endless pursuit of wealth. Any other value assignment is madness!
