Doesn't seem a total lie to me. The UI in the previous version was very counter intuitive, didn't follow any familiar concept and the latest one is not better. Simple stuff like playing an mp4 from a PC, where also the Sonos controller runs, is complicated and not properly documented. Many things can go wrong and the error message are no help. Like they say just "No access" instead of explaining what the access problem is. In the latest version, the Sonos controller will let the user see and select a Windows directory, but then pretend it has no access. Then how comes the controller could show the directory to the user ?

Sonos software is a major headache to use. This seems to be a company who does not give a shit. Even I like their speakers :-(

Comment Sonos upgrade loses connection to Windows drives (Score 1) 72

I only use Sonos for listening to mp4 files stored on my PC. It worked (more or less) fine, until Sonos automatically updated and lost all those connections. Trying to set them up again gave all kind of access errors. Googling the error message didn't help. After a day of fiddling with Windows settings I could make it work again, but I doubt many Sonos customers will succeed to do so.

It's unbelievable that Sonos forces this update on their customers without providing instruction how to make it work again.

I went to search.brave.com and entered "C# code for password protection". It showed some links like to stackoverflow, but didn't provide any code snippets. I tried various other C# related question and never got any code snippets. I then explicitly asked "Xxx code snippet for string handling", replacing Xxx with C#, JavaScript , Python, C++, Java, etc. I got only code snippets for C++ and Java.

When searching for "C++ code for password protection" there was "AI assistance", which basically showed a summary of a stackoverflow article, providing also a link to that article. I don't see any benefit in that summary.

Actually, open source has changed MS a lot. I use DotNet daily since over 15 years. In the beginning it was closed code and it was very difficult to figure out what is going on under the hood in a rather complex piece of software. Now I can download the complete sourcecode for WPF from Github, which has helped me a lot. Also their help documentation has improved a lot, since more people can contribute. Are there more genuine open source projects out there ? Probably. Do I care ? Not at all. I truly appreciate that I have now a first class development environment including great source control at no costs at all.

Stop spreading fear. It is simply not true that the Singapore tracing app can trace you when you switch on Bluetooth. The tracing app works only if it is running on both phones. I live in Singapore and I have installed that app on my phone, because it makes contact tracing easier if I or any person I had contact with tests positive. Presently, Singapore is one of the safest place in the whole world, because they took contact tracing seriously right from the beginning. If other countries would have done the same, we would have 90% less people falling sick or die.

Please be careful not to produce fake news. You give the impression that the tracking app on the phone is compulsory, but it is not. Everyone can decide, if he wants to use it. Singapore got the virus early, but has still very low infection numbers and 3/4 come from abroad. All shops and restaurants are still open. This is only possible because of their excellent tracking system. I live in Singapore now for 20 years and everyone I know here wholeheartedly supports the government's effort. Having said that, you are right, Singapore has problems with basic human rights, like press freedom or freedom of assembly, but in the case of the corona virus they do an excellent job.
