You mean all those angry white people who were protesting about how they were being treated the same as everyone else in their state? You're right, those white folks with guns weren't actually being discriminated against so I could see how you wouldn't see the comparison.

So you're saying that protests should be outlawed unless they get permits from the very people they are protesting? Are you familiar with the first amendment? You rant on about peaceful protests, but the second they are an inconvenience to you, your first amendment rights go out the door. Right to free speech? Sure, just don't bother anyone with it. Right to assemble? Sure, do it over there. In what world does a peaceful protest drive change, if the people in power aren't even inconvenienced?

When enforcing the law unequally, then it just glorifies violence. If there were a video of someone murdering someone else and that video content verified, they would have been arrested and charged by now. No one is arguing about whether what happened on that video actually happened or the context surrounding it. Sending in the troops is doubling down on the message to your citizens that cops can kill people without the same criminal consequences.

These "tons of people" you speak of aren't the President of the United States. When someone of the highest power in the land "glorifies violence," violence gets normalized. This only looks like political bias because we haven't seen a Democrat president glorifying violence on Twitter, thus there is no other side to call out.

Why is this modded as interesting? This is hardly a valid fear. Because of the liability involved with the criminality of an act like drunk driving, if legislators don't adjudicate whose at fault in driverless cars, the supreme court will. Legislatures want those lobbying dollars to flow in before the court makes the decision for them. Once the liability gets pinned on car manufacturers, good luck pinning it back on the occupants.

What kind of fearful hell do you live in where you're always thinking of the extreme eventuality? One thing isn't always a step to the extreme you point out. Yes, it's a possibility in the future, but this isn't the step that takes us there. Do you have a cell phone? Then the government can send you emergency alerts already and last I checked, almost everyone is obsessed with keeping their cell phone always on. A giant visual cue from a TV has benefits to people that may not otherwise hear a cell phone emergency alert. If you're worried about abuse, I haven't seen any questionable emergency alerts here in Chicago. How about your neck of the nation?
