Way to think of yourself: gee, this must be worth like $30/mo, and I'm getting it for _free_ - that's an amazing value! That's not the cost. The actual cost is the platform spreading misinformation at an exponential rate, actively (or passively) promoting white supremacy, and all the other crap that nets them 10000x what you think your information is worth. Watching society crumble is the cost. I do not agree that the cost will ever, _ever_ be worth me posting new pictures of my cat and getting some Likes.

We'll have to see in a year who was able to complete their 'plan' - my guess is... me.

External Oversight Board: We have completed our investigation, and have found that Facebook has:

- Taken zero action on any political advertising deemed by FactCheck.org to be misinformation
- Taken zero action on posts that indicate an imminent attack or bodily harm to people
- Taken zero steps to suppress of QAnon or other hate Groups
- Actively suppressed any organized protest groups that it's advertisers have deemed harmful to their bottom line
- By passively allowing political advertising misinformation campaigns, effectively supporting the re-election of Donald Trump
- Allowed foreign entities to create political misinformation campaigns on a massive scale
- Probably done other awful things we didn't even have time to figure out

When Trump proclaims victory on Nov. 4, I'm going to be pointing to Zuckerberg. Hope he's getting a sweet kickback 'key money' payment.

I think what Google is expecting here is a round of applause and a big cheer for 'doing the right thing' - when what they should be getting is a condescending pat on the head for thinking they're doing the right thing and failing miserably.

You want to make a difference in the election Google (Facebook, et all)? Completely ban *all* political advertising. Period. Now. Forever. You want to try and sell me some crappy product based on my interests? great, go for it - otherwise, keep your trap shut.

Is band together to build out their own distribution system, develop hardware and software, and hire a marketing agency to convince people that they should buy the hardware in order to run their apps.

My guess is paying the 30% to the companies that provide that functionality that is much, much cheaper.
