Comment Google doesn't index product pages (Score 1) 141

As near as I can tell, Google isn't indexing (or at least sharing results for) product pages -- specific products, digital goods, or services listed for sale within a online shopping cart's catalog. So if you're looking to buy something, Google is largely worthless. It's much more likely to show reviews than items for actual sale, as near as I cant tell. Meanwhile, I know developers who are now listing products in regular blog posts (with single Paypal buttons included), in order to try to get those products to show up in Google.

You're right. I noticed that, also. For several decades, we've known that eliminating CFCs was working on repairing the ozone hole, especially since there was less UV-ray-induced blindness in Tierra del Fuego, almost immediately (1980s). So, I don't think is entirely about ozone, and suspect it's really a message about global climate change -- we can/should do more, and if we do, it will actually work.

There is nothing remotely legal about AT&T's and Frontier's position or arguments. Their lawyers should be disbarred -- or at minimum, held in contempt -- for wasting the court's time and money. Breaking the bad news about your client's wishful thinking is part of the job. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. Cowards.

"The Congress shall have Power... To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;" -The Constitution A state trying to regulate what is fundamentally interstate commerce is not only illegal -- it's unconstitutional. Ordinarily, lawbreakers are punished. I would suggest that many citizens in your states could be outraged to learn that their elected reps are spending their tax dollars trying to break the law, and make life more difficult with a steeply regressive tax. I suspect those citizens would seek to punish those lawbreakers in a variety of ways -- including, when applicable, at the ballot box. And I suspect that many of those outraged citizens would include those who worked online for a living -- a far greater number than you may realize -- who happen to know how to use the Internet for all sorts of things, including rallying ad-hoc campaigns. For example, Utah's state reps and senators found out an unpleasant truth during this last legislative session: Utah has 10,000 "mommy bloggers" who were outraged to learn that their lawmakers were trying to attach taxes to affiliate advertising with companies such as Amazon. And, it turns out, bloggers are easily outraged, unified, politically active, and love nothing more than to blog profusely about things they are upset about, including specific state reps. (The proposed law was scrapped, along with a few legislative careers, I suspect.) Just, you know, an FYI.

Right, they should share revenues like YouTube does. No shortage of new content there. Instead, Facebook charges publishers to share the content they've provided (free!) to their followers, and which they are advertising against. It's self-defeating, especially when you throw in the normal decreasing interest that all social media networks see.
