From what I can see, if Anti-Slash gets their way, then Slashdot will be either (1)a much better place or (2)useless and/or gone. If it's a better place, then everybody wins. We, the visitors, win because the broken moderation system is fixed/removed/replaced and the signal to noise ratio improves. We also see everything that goes on behind the scenes; the editors actions are in the open for everyone to see which keeps them honest. The editors also win because the most sophisticated of the trolls will drop their attack on Slashdot leaving only the script-kiddie types who are doing it for fun and bragging rights. All they have to do is swallow their pride and own up to everything they've done so far--bitter medicine, but worth it.
If Slashdot becomes unusable or halts operation, then a large void is open and somebody steps up to fill it. The newcomer will hopefully have learned the lessons of Slashdot and won't have the political/stubbornness/pride issues that seem to be keeping the Slashdot editors from fixing this site. It'll be somebody who can make sweeping changes without having to admit that he or she has been wrong for the last few years.
Supposing Anti-Slash doesn't have any effect, then we are left with the status quo. This is fine with me as well, but I can see only improvement resulting from the subversive tactics being employed by Anti-Slash. I'm not going to help them out, but I sure as hell am not going to try to stop them.
So far as meta discussion goes, Rob has stated that he is against it. His excuse is that he doesn't want Slashdot turning into a site for discussions about Slashdot. That makes sense to me, and if editor abuse wasn't so rampant or the moderation wasn't so broken, I would completely agree with him.
As for the tactics they use, I find them entertaining. I particularly like to see the moderations go up and down on a copy-paste troll, with the call-outs and the denials flying back and forth.
