I have a bit of a suspicion that a lot of the discussion on slashdot these days is not real or organic. It reads way too much like a tumbler blog or the ridiculous Reddit posts where the vast majority of posters seem to be ULTRA left wing (US Left)â¦no matter what the topic is. Iâ(TM)ve had the same surprise you have (and Iâ(TM)m in the US) reading threads here and on other tech blogs like Arsâ¦people seem way too mono-brained for it to be happening naturally, especially for what should be more technically minded people. Iâ(TM)m guess itâ(TM)s the troll farms in various countries trying to amplify divisions by passing themselves off as normal people. Anyone I know with half a brain realizes that lab-leak at least is plausible if not the most probable originâ¦

My wife and I just had our first child 8 weeks ago. We could afford the 1300 dollar setup fee and the few hundred a year without causing any real issues within our budget. So that made it a pretty easy decision. Who knows what they'll be doing 20 years from now with stem cells...so it's just a CYA policy for our daughter. Anyway...like I said, it's pretty easy. If you can afford it do it...it's for your kid. If you can't afford it then no worries. Maybe in 20 years stem cells are worthless. If you've got the money your child is worth the gamble. If you don't have the money...you don't have the money.
