I need to see more data than n=20 on viral loads in vaccinated people with delta. But it is important to note, that in the small study FDA is relying on, viral loads for pfizer vaccinated people infected with delta are LOWER than astra zeneca vaccinated people who are infected with the alpha strain. https://assets.researchsquare.... Show me some data that fully vaccinated people are a big source of spreading covid, please.

Comment Facebook good at reporting sex trafficking ? (Score 3, Interesting) 135

I remember listening to a podcast with a sex traffic researcher. One thing mentioned was that FB is actually one of the best at reporting these things when the find them. So, sex trafficking could be just as common on other platforms, and the numbers look the way they do because facebook is actually taking action.

I'd say that a switch happened that no one noticed - we went from 'let's not overwhelm the health system, because that will lead to excess deaths,' to 'if even one person dies, that's too many.' Many, if not most, can get behind the former, but the latter is crazy.

My problem is that the strategy didn't make sense if he knew a vaccine was around the corner. Personally, I didn't think we'd have a vaccine for years. And if that was the case, we all knew we wouldn't be locked down until a vaccine was developed. So, a major goal of 'not overwhelming the health systems' made sense. But, if you know a vaccine is going to be available in less than a year, the calculus changes. If you know you are going to get a vaccine in 1 month, are you more careful about your exposures? What if you know you aren't going to get a vaccine for 2 years? If trump knew a vaccine was imminent, a more conservative strategy would have made more sense.
