Journal: Changed from Win2000 to Win98

I Downgraded from win2000 to Win98SE but i seems that the startup has become slower even when i don't load all the optional drivers. win2000 started pretty quick but but the performance when operating was lagging at best the system consistantly loaded programs slow except for the simple programs like notepad and paint. Definately one of the most important reasons to switch back was so that i could use my old DOS apps and for genaral compatability with older software which i have an abundace of. Now Win98SE has the reciprocal, slow startup but fast one loaded. so i was wondering if there is any way to speed up the start up time. more memory ect. I have a dell latitude c610 laptop model PP01l with 512MB memory and pentium III 1Ghz.
