South Park Creators Given Signed Photo of Saddam Hussein 1297

Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the creators of South Park, were given a very special gift by US marines: a signed photo of Saddam Hussein. During his captivity, the marines forced Saddam to repeatedly watch the movie South Park: Bigger, Longer And Uncut, which shows him as the boyfriend of Satan. Stone said, "We're very proud of our signed Saddam picture and what it means. It's one of our biggest highlights."

Microsoft Shoots Own Foot In Iceland 476

David Gerard writes "The Microsoft Certified Partner model is: an MCP buys contracts from Microsoft and sells them to businesses as a three-year timed contract, payable in annual installments. Iceland's economy has collapsed, so 1500 businesses have gone bankrupt and aren't paying the fees any more. But Microsoft has told the MCPs: 'Our deal was with you, not them. Pay up.' The MCPs that don't go bankrupt in turn are moving headlong to Free Software, taking most of the country with them. (Warning: link contains strong language and vivid imagery.)"

Sorry, but you've ever met the SA's or help desk personnel I work with. The majority of them suck. The reason? They have no critical thinking skills. They don't know how to solve problems, or think outside the normal workflow routines. The reason is because they all have certs instead of degrees. Had they gone to college, they would have skills like critical thinking, leadership, and the ability to form complete sentences. Instead, my development team and I must pick up their slack, and it's not fun. Do yourself a favor and go to college. No matter how overpriced it is, you'll be better off in life with it than without it.

This is the kind of post where people should either shut up or say "wow, now that's something." This is not the time for *stupid* comments like the poster wrote, "see if the linux folks can match that" or for the kinds of responses where some slashdotters do all sorts of analysis on how an open-source OS helps sick kids. I can't even believe what I'm reading here.

Journal Journal: James Ewing, Sveasoft, and the GPL 2

If you want to know how a little firmware for a little router can become a very big issue, read on. I'll tell you all about it.

First, though, I'll skip to the good part. James Ewing (of Sveasoft), developer of the now famous Linksys WRT54G firmware fork, is engaging in seriously bad acts, of importance to everyone.
