Grew up in Silicon Valley. Beta-tester for Prodigy. Shook Al Gore's hand when he came to my high school (Monta Vista) to celebrate its being the first in the world on the Information Superhighway. Went to UCSD as a CS major. Spent an ungodly amount of time daytrading. Became concerned about valuations. Convinced my dad to move his retirement money into real estate. Decided the I in IT was more important than the T. Graduated with a degree in "computing in the arts." In 2001. Bad timing.
Worked on an independent video game as lead programmer in the years following. (see Oakleafplace; samjew.com is *not* me) Moved to China in early 2002. In 2003 came back to Silicon Valley. Saw what it had become.
Moved back to China in disgust where I've more or less been since. Worked as a graphic designer and real estate developer.
Currently describe myself as a "philosopher" as my range of intellectual interests is qutie broad. Still trying to figure out how to bottle and sell it.
