Comment Apple's terrible experience, no surprise (Score 1) 105

Two of my personal MacBook Pros with failed GPU likely due to Apple's poor thermal management. Apple said it was not my fault but still they refused to fix them. The language they used was socipathic. My iPad Pro has nothing Pro about it. It kills background apps so aggressively that it is impossible to really do anything with the so called multi tasking. As a developer Apple makes massive breaking changes and adds store requirements every year. Keeping my five apps up to date is a nearly full time job of navigating broken APIs and severely lacking documentation. For that pleasure I get to pay $100 a year to populate Apple's ecosystem. So yeah I do love my Windows 11 Lenovo, thanks for asking.

Well, in Ontario at least, we have had 30 years of cut backs, claw backs, deliberate sabotage, hiring freezes, wage freezes, 99 year leases of toll roads, 99 year leases of Ontario Place, taking down a major highway, and other actions designed to privatize infrastructure. So good luck with the 'if they come, we will build it" approach.

Comment Population has vastly outpaced infrastructure (Score 1) 293

Canada is importing over 500,000 people a year without expanding infrastructure. The result is that everything is massively over stressed, expensive and wait times are very long. Housing is obscenely expensive and difficult to find. Family doctors are almost impossible to find. Traffic is outrageous. It is really a disorganized mess. Canada may be the 2nd largest country by size but most of it is uninhabitable. Half the country lives in Southern Ontario and Quebec. Most rural towns do not have decent health care or services. Wages are half of what Americans expect, especially in tech. (see latest Github poll). Income tax is very high compared to USA. Sales tax is high 5% in prairies, 13% Ontario, BC, 15% in East Coast. Medical wait times are often multiple years. Religious organizations run a large percentage of schools, hospitals, social services, care homes.... Fascism, racism, and xenophobia are just as much a problem here as in the US. Jobs are not easy to find. Huge number of people whose credentials are not recognized who cannot work in their field and wind up delivering food, driving cab or low level health care.
