"Building" a Mame cabinet is no where as hard as it used to be because there's been great advancements in the mame cabinet building community, and a ton of support "niche" market providers to create products that make it really easy to convert an existing cabinet (or build your own)...

Since I am more comfortable with a soldering iron and a screwdriver then I am with a measuring tape and table saw I tried to find an old arcade cabinet to convert in to my own modded XBOX cabinet.

After lots of looking around, I realized the cool looking cabinets were not so easy to come by and were overly expensive, and I really did not want some lame games graphics decorating my rec room.

I ended up picking up a pre made shell off of eBay. It worked out really nice. I have not seen them up there recently, but here is the link to their site: http://www.kozango.com/

They also maintain a great list of links to other sites selling stuff to MAMEify your cabinet and even links to people selling plans to build your own.
