Journal Jack William Bell's Journal: Help Wanted, Klingon Translator 2

(Submitted to /. front page. Update: Rejected, but I bet it shows up on the front page in a day or so from somemone else. Update: Took five and a half hours -- so the question is, did the other guy submit first?)

CNN has the scoop: "Position Available: Interpreter, must be fluent in Klingon. The language created for the "Star Trek" TV series and movies is one of about 55 needed by the office that treats mental health patients in metropolitan Multnomah County."

Help Wanted, Klingon Translator

  • a successful candidate will just be on call, not on salary. I wonder who came up with this notion, though.
    • Most translators for the goverment work that way. I used to know someone that did Vietnamese and Cambodian for King County Courts. She was on a list and they would call everyone who hadn't recently been called on the list until they got someone who was available.
