Jack William Bell's Journal: Sorry I have not been posting lately

Those who are regular readers have noticed I haven't posted in a while. There are lots of reasons why, mostly due to life changes. Anyone who has been with me for a while (or has read the archives) knows that, unlike most /. journals, I rarely use this forum to talk about my personal life. And I am not going to break that rule now, but I will give the basics.

Suffice to say that my contract in Michigan fell afoul of the budget crunch here and was not extended even though everyone involved recommended the extension (and had told me to make my plans based on it being approved). I've been through a difficult time since as I tried to find replacement work locally and, failing that, give notice on my apartment and get ready to head home to Seattle; where there are 50 qualified programmers for every job.

And, Murphy being the only constant in life, my faithful old truck picked a couple of days ago to burn out a rod bearing (right after I gave notice on the apartment). Yup! Life gets better don't it? So I have some difficult choices to make between several, equally crappy, scenarios. Plus I need to turn off my local Internet service soon so I will only post sporadically until I get home.

Wish me luck. And let me know of any work out there. I am willing to travel anywhere for short and long term contracts and even to do MS related training and development, although I would prefer something more Linuxy and Pythonic. Sadly, I am more experienced at the MS stuff...
