I just hope conference attendees are ready for 51% of the sessions to be held in French, and all printed materials being predominantly in French, as required by law.

There are some laws regarding the use of French in Quebec (Montreal is the largest city in the province of Quebec) but nothing like that. Yes, I'm an anglophone living in Montreal.

Outlook 2010 Bug Creates Monster Email Files 126

Julie188 writes with this snippet from Network World "Office 2010 is still in beta and a patch is already out. Microsoft is trying to fix a bug in the email program Outlook 2010 Beta that creates unusually large e-mail files that take up too much space. The Outlook product team has offered a bug fix for both 32-bit and 64-bit systems that fixes the problem going forward, although previous emails will remain super-sized. This could be a problem for email programs that limit message sizes, such as Gmail or BlackBerry."

Our system has been around for a while and works well: 1. Memorize the letter and three digit number at your parking spot. 2. Pay at the nearest pay station using credit card or cash. (These stations always seem to be within 30 metres of any parking spot.) 3. Take the printed receipt and go. There's no need to return to your car. Submission + - Stix Scientific Fonts Reach Beta Release

starseeker writes: At long last, the STIX project has posted a Beta release of their scientific fonts. The mission of the STIX project has been the "preparation of a comprehensive set of fonts that serve the scientific and engineering community in the process from manuscript creation through final publication, both in electronic and print formats." The result is a font set containing thousands of characters, and hopefully a font set that will become a staple for scientific publishing. Among other uses, it has long been hoped that this would make the wide scale use of MathML in browsers possible. Despite rather long delays the project has persisted and is now showing concrete results. For those interested in the license, it can be found here. (Note to those downloading — TeX support is not yet ready. Also, the zip file will put all the files in the same directory as the zip file itself, so you might want to open it in its own directory.)
