per the comment above, there arent many fanless netbooks. My atom makes a lot of heat, definitely needs its fan.
I am always inclined to go with lenovo, they are damn rugged. Im sure the panasonic toughbooks can take a beating, but they are kind of expensive for what you get performance wise. The pantyhose suggestion sounds legit.
