Journal Interrobang's Journal: Emerg (Again), Burst Fracture, T-6, Nerves 3
I'm going to be disappearing for a while later this week, mostly because my new hardware is here (and there are computer pieces all over my floor)! Yaay!! In the meantime, I just wanted to post an update on what's going on here.
You Picked a Spine Time To Leave Me: The F didn't get very good looking-after at the hospital in Brampton, so on the advice of my doctor, we took him to the Emerg at one of the hospitals here in London on Tuesday. They couldn't get the X-ray films from the other hospital, so they re-did the X-rays, then decided the X-rays were inconclusive, and did a CAT-scan of his back. According to them, he does not have a "compression fracture," he has a "burst fracture involving the whole vertebral body," of T-6, the sixth thoracic vertebra, with some bone fragments impinging on his spinal canal, but not enough to warrant emergency surgery (although we're on tingly legs/911 watch as we not-speak). It was a near thing, though -- the orthopedist said that if it had been another millimetre more impacted, they would have been prepping him for the OR. (I was prepping myself for that news, because this whole thing has seemed like one --ahem-- bad break after another.)
My fiance's shorter now.
Ops Software Interview: I went for my interview at NavTech. I think it went pretty well, although I'll probably not get hired (as usual). We'll see.
Hardware!: My new hardware is here, and we're assembling a working computer out of all the bits and parts. The specs on it are absolutely smokin' -- 2.5 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, etc. -- more blasting powder than I need, that's for sure! Also, the case is really cool -- it has a swinging door on the front and a couple of locks (mmm, more case keys for my key ring), and lots and lots of bays for expansions! I also have a CD-R/W-DVD-R with it, so now if I want to watch DVDs, I can. Whee ha, since I don't even own any DVDs. (DVDs are overrated anyway.) (I hope Rosetta Stone is more compatible with my new hard/software than it is with my old stuff; I'm getting sick of its crashing every five minutes. It makes me cranky.)
Anyway, that's about all for now.

DVDs are overrated anyway.
Ahem. I would take issue with that statement. As someone who enjoys movies I absolutely love DVDs. I have somewhere near 250 of the suckers in my collection, and it is constantly growing. The quality is far superior to VHS and I quite like some of the extras you get on s
