Journal Interrobang's Journal: Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha! 5

Among my newest fans today is the lovely TuckerEstron. DU readers may know her better as AlienGirl, but you should all get to know her (and for goodness' sakes, Tuck, you should post something! Get your feet wet! How do you ever expect to get a respectable amount of karma if you never say anything?); she's weird, and you'll like her. (Yes, crowd, unlike certain somebodies we could name Tuck actually has b3wbs too!)

All of this is largely because she thinks I'm cool and I've been posting (and messaging) links to my humble /journal to her (and all over DU). Cross-pollination and hybridization are good things. It's an evil plot of mine to get all those closet "nerds" (as in "News for...") over here to do their geeking out, as opposed to cluttering up DU with vanity posts about Linux or something. (Some people are just desperate.)

I'm also trying to get a couple of friends of mine (well, more than a couple) out to SCA events. I guess this puts me on roughly the same ethical level as door-to-door Bible-thumpers, but I'll find a way to rationalize out of it, somehow, just you wait.

Addendum: I notice that the polyamory/polygamy comments are still going like a house afire. Interesting... Totally unexpected, from my POV. Could it be that I really do attract the "fringe crowd"?

  • I see your plot at last! What's wrong with vanity posts, hmmm? *arches eyebrow* Tucker
  • Perhaps your journal got a few peoples' attention, and enough of us just can't seem to keep our mouth shut (or more appropriately, fingers still) enough to avoid prolonging the discussion.

Be happy, it means people are reading your journal. :) And what do you mean by "fringe crowd"? I'd NEVER be caught dead wearing fringes! Oh, that wasn't waht you meant???

It's probably my fault. I'm just enjoying reasonable discussion after being flamed and mocked by some right-wing zealots in another journal.
  • You're posting on Slashdot - of course you're attracting the fringe crowd, it's kind of by definition. The real question is whether your respondents are weird even for slashdot, a disturbing concept, given the "mainstream"'s belief that the ultimate slashdot post would involve hot grits and Natalie Portman in soviet russia, be a First Post, involve at least a few gratuitous lines of Perl or C code, contain at least one goatse.cx link and flame at least one of Microsoft, Jon Katz, RMS, a *N*X distro not in f

By the way, I'm not obsessed with Natalie Portman; I hate grits; in Soviet Russia Linux uses Slashdot; Microsoft is still teh $uX0rZ [goatse.cx]; Jon Katz gets worked up a lot about nothing, but he actually can (contrary to popular opinion) write his way out of a wet paper bag; RMS is a screaming right-wing bigot, even though I happen to agree with him sometimes about software stuff; I actually do have bewbs, and this is not a first post.
