There is no such thing as 'karma' in western capitalism (and this is not fascism). Perhaps one or two of them will spend a few months in a minimum-security prison.

If I were one of this couple, I would be extraordinarily cautious for the next several years. You do not challenge a party member in a communist state, and you do not challenge senior members of the management class in an industrial-capitalist state without bad things happening.

Yet I, stupidly and resolutely, remain a libertarian.

Probably a stupid question. For this amount of inter-galactic stuff, should there not be a significant amount of "scattering" of all
radiation ? Has or can this scattering effect been measured ?

Also, the linked article (www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn2624) said that this stuff - "confined into filaments means that a very strong gravitational field must be pulling it into place. According to theory, only dark matter can do the trick." Why can only "dark" matter be the cause ?

I shall cast my shame unto the waters. I still do not understand "dark" matter. Would one of you good physical science people do some explainin' to a simple-minded redneck ?!?

Comment CmdrTaco, here's an honest suggestion... (Score 1) 1237

In an earlier editorial by CmdrTaco he was lamenting how the comment forums go off-topic for various reasons. And he was looking for suggestions on how to stop or reduce the problem. Okay, here you have a fine example of why the comment forums veer off-topic so frequently. Instead of citing the article on how bees fly and leaving out the unnecessary commentary on ID and evolution, the editors choose to leave these inflamatory statements in the 4 to 5 sentence summary. The fault here lies with /. A good journalist/editor would remove the comments and stick to the topic of "How Bees Fly." But not here. Here we have enough ammunition to spin the comment forums out of control and into another pointless and prolonged debate on ID/evolution. There's only a tiny percentage of comments here actually on the topic of "bee flight." There aren't enough moderator points out there to mod the "off-topic" comments down. Seriously.
