Quicken 2007 For Mac Lacks EV Cert Support 108

adamengst writes "If your bank uses the Extended Validation certificates that require a higher level of identity checking on the certificate authority's part (as at least one Seattle bank does), you may not be able to download transactions using the Mac version of Quicken. Quicken doesn't gracefully ignore extra information in EV certificates as older Web browsers do, but instead throws an error and refuses to download transactions. Intuit says they're working on a fix — but users may have to wait 'a couple of months,' and even then the fix may not be applied to versions before Quicken 2007."

With Lawsuit Settled, Hackers Working With MBTA 90

narramissic writes "The three MIT students who were sued earlier this year by the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority for planning to show at Defcon how they had had reverse engineered the magnetic stripe tickets and smartcards said Monday that they are now working to make the Boston transit system more secure. 'I'm really glad to have it behind me. I think this is really what should have happened from the start,' said Zack Anderson, one of the students sued by the MBTA."

For one thing, it's a 60 day trial period. Also, as the blog post says, they'll pay to ship it back to Sun (I e-mailed customer service on my order to confirm this as well). So, if you take what the blog post says, he makes it sound like you have a high chance of them liking your review (as long as it looks nice), so the chances of a free server aren't that low (at least, you'll have a free server for 60 days until they ship it back).
