Get over yourself, dude. You are not God's gift to anything. You're just another programmer, network monkey, supporter, DBA, or whatever. I reject your premise that other professionals are not tested. They certainly are tested via interviews in as many different configurations as we are. Written tests might be less common for certain professions than others, but I don't accept your conception that no other professionals are ever tested in the same way computer professionals are. On the contrary, many professionals have to pass certification tests to work anywhere. Lawyers have to pass the state bar exam to work in a particular state. To move across state lines, they have to take a new bar exam. Nurses and doctors have to be board certified and can be certified by specialty academies and associations. Teachers have to have a state certificate. Civil engineering companies have to have at least one Professional Engineer on staff, meaning (s)he passed a state PE exam. Electricians have to pass training. Beauticians and barbers even have state licenses. Programmers, DBAs, and supporters are not required to be certified by any state. Only very few companies require Brainbench or other tests. A bigger minority have a simple written test as part of the review process. Big deal.
