It claims (from TFA) that the prompt used is a copyrightable work. Midjourney's output is clearly a derivative work based on a copyrightable original. How can that not be copyrightable itself? The claim could be made (in this case) that Midjourney modifies the original prompt in ways that are hidden from the user and the resulting work is a collaboration. Fair enough. However, it would not be broadly applicable to all synthetic images. If I use a local installation of Automatic1111 or ComfyUI, I have complete control over the entire process, from the primary model (checkpoint) used, any secondary models (loras), the prompt, to the seed, I can even (with ControlNet) create specific poses for a figure. I can even doodle an image and have the software build on that. Why can't I copyright the output of this process?

Wouldn't their ISO (ERCOT, I believe it's called) be the ones who decide when and how much energy from that facility is used?

Also since I don't see any solar panels it's got to be charging off the grid, and they're paying for that power, right? So how much profit are they really going to make off selling that power back?

I expect that it's an arbitrage play. Store power when demand (and prices) are low, sell it back when demand (and prices) are high.

You know how sometimes scammers will ask for payment in Amazon gift cards? They need to convert those into cash somehow. Here's how it works: They buy cheap crap from AliBaba or some other Chinese e-commerce site. They put it up on Amazon for an inflated price. Then, they use the scammed gift cards to buy the junk from themselves. They probably use random addresses because Amazon might notice that all these purchases were going to one address.
