The vast majority of ancient civilizations that led to the development of modern society were polytheistic

Yes. And then when modern civilization arose so did monotheism. Contemporaneously.

I think the whole question of Monotheism/Polytheism is overrated. It's simply a numerical difference, somtimes only by one or two. This doesn't mean much because even in so called Monotheism there is usually a bunch of guys which are quasi-godlike. Monotheistic forms arose very often in history, as i already said - it means not very much.

Tengriism:

Tengrism (sometimes stylized as Tengriism), occasionally referred to as Tengrianism , is a modern term for a Central Asian religion characterized by features of shamanism, animism, totemism, both polytheism and monotheism, and ancestor worship. Historically, it was the mainstream religion of the Turks, Mongols, Hungarians, and Bulgars as well as the Xiongnu and the Huns. It was the state religion of the six ancient Turkic states: Göktürks Khaganate, Avar Khaganate, Western Turkic Khaganate, Great Bulgaria, Bulgarian Empire and Eastern Tourkia. ...

Anyhow... actually, there are a number of studies that have shown that more intelligent people are often the ones with the most rigidity in their beliefs -- particularly when confronted by evidence that conflicts with them. A person of lesser intellect may simply accept new findings from a reputable source or authority, but smart people are significantly better at "explaining away" information that conflicts with their views.

Here you say, in other words: "less intelligent" people care much of what authorities say. This may lead to change of older opinions based on views expressed earlier by other authorities. Yes, this might be true.

Your views leave open the question what "less intelligent" people do if something contradicts their belief but no authorities guide them through.

There' a really good foreign film about his life.

To the more knowledgeable: this movie is almost completely wrong on almost everything. I cannot understand how people with reading ability were able to produce such a movie and call the central person D. K. 99.9% of all "facts" provided are wrong. Asade from that, it's a nice fairytale where the people bear names from early mongol histroy.

There is not a single movie who deals with D.K. in a bearable way. Good book: J. Curtain, The Mongols: A History, Foreword from T. Roosevelt (1905), and other books mentioned in the thread

I merely offered an obvious solution with the concept of distributing hunting licenses with preference, we will say, for those injured by the actions of the offender and their families, inevitably also injured. Failing that, just putting them down with a bullet would be superior to the way we put innocent would-be pets at the pound. Humane. I was definitely not trolling and I would suggest to you that to nurture the furtherance of the problem is far more creepy.

Wow!

This was exactly the solution the germans came to 60 y ago. It was even called like "solution" in german. The did exactly this, identify the people who might bring most harm to the good part of the society. Due to the sheer amount of people, they did not really manage to shoot them but solved the problem by other means. The important thing, like in your case, they did not like what the did but were very sure to do the right thing.

In other parts of the world today (some are the U.S. best allies) you may simply just marry more than one of these "children" between 13 and 18. Problem also solved.

[Stasi in GDR] Their function was to keep the Communist party in change of the one party state of East Germany and repress any actual or potential opposition.

Thats not very precise, it's a heavy oversimplification. The potential opposition was very small. The Stasi's main function was to oppose western secret services who learned the hard way the GDR-Stasi was an opponent to consider. In the power system of the GDR, the Stasi was, more often than not - opposed to the leading party members and their connections. In this, she was very similar to the SD of the old Nazi Germany before 1945. It used (for filing of their information on people) almost the same card-system that Heydrich invented in the late 1930-ies.
