Comment SIGNAL is Dead (Score 1) 54

Removing all "normies" from SIGNAL traffic will make monitoring hardcore privacy advocates much easier to identify and track (quantum computing cracks SIGNAL encryption, but Feds/NSA don't have many QComputers)...which is in line with statements of intent made the current administration. The reasons given by Signal for dropping SMS are so specious, I have to assume that the CEO of Signal has been compromised. Dropping SMS will not "save people money", nor will it make the app more secure (still need phone num to register)....it will only destroy the user base, and halt widespread adoption of secure messaging. Gosh, who would want *that*? #TheFeds The obvious "solution" to the "problems" listed by Signal is to support SMS, and include a setting to disable it by default. That way, the 80% of the user base using Signal as their all-in-one app could continue to do so, and the technically illiterate people described as the Signal "problem" would be shielded from their ignorance. 1 slider button is all that's needed....if they really wanted to expand secure messaging to the masses. #TheyObviouslyDont
