Journal Journal: Does Stego-HTML trump Baysean Filtering?

Recently, I am seeing a new spam pattern. I generally allow Kmail to render the HTML in emails mostly for the sake of a few newsletters. I go back and forth with that option. Anyway, these new messages render as clear and crisp HTML with just a hint of spammer artifacts. Yet when I view the message as source, the message is unintelligible. It is definitely not valid HTML. Back issues of "Communications of the ACM" are a gold mine for such blunders of the art. Most issues have a back page column "Inside Risks" that are or were written by Peter Neumann but various others have contributed. Usually each covers a theme since the subject material is so broad and seemingly unending.
