Yes, the Russians survived WWII only through the use of Lend-Lease from the US. (And remember this was given while American troops were still fighting Japan in the Pacific, and that the Soviets actually started the war in Europe when Ribbentrop-Molotov divided Poland.) Some historians have estimated 2 thirds of Soviet military had Studebaker chassis. Some of these trucks are still in use in rural areas. But I haven't seen mention of the fact that Soviet technology in the 60 and 70's was started by captured German scientists and their expertise, and that after the war almost every factory in East Germany was completely moved piece by piece to Russia proper. So my point is any excellence in Russian tech was of "Nazi" origin and is today gone as they do not have indigenous talent and those few now want to escape even more. Yes, its true, they all want to move to America and wear Adidas track clothes.
What Russia can't replace are the skilled soldiers that are dying every day. They are keeping a reserve for actual defense, but I wonder if they are using their old policy of destroying all the grunts and junior officers so there will be no backlash against the FSB weasels like Putler when they reincorporate into society, because the military either is against the war, or some actually want Putin to fight harder. The soviets put their mine fields behind their front line troops and didn't give them the location so they could not retreat. Also they had commisars ready to shoot them if they did. Virtually ALL Red Army who were released from German POW camps were given 10 year sentences in the gulag as a reward for defending the motherland. But more than anything the Bolsheviks have a 100 year history of torture and repression of anybody within range that is impossible to hide and worse than the czars. And one more thing their Black Sea fleet needs to be taken out or people will starve. But which starves more, Russia's blockade and pillaging of food supplies, or the US bailout of multi millionaire farmers with the biorenewables grift?
