You know the difference in pay between a prof who schedules 15 minute meetings with each student and one who just clicks 'submit' on Turnitin?
Zilch.
Actually, maybe less than zilch. The prof who's reviewing drafts of student work and meeting one-on-one with students for 15-20 hours a week is spending 15-20 hours fewer a week on professional publications, which are what actually get you tenure and pay raises.
You simply do not pay enough tuition to make it worth the prof's time. Or, perhaps, the administration simply wastes too much of your tuition on non-professorial costs.
