As long as computers work on a base-2 system then the numbers wont align to a base-10 system.
Using base-2 numbers for magnitudes or system numbers makes sense. Why put 3 cores in a CPU ( Looking at AMD) if it takes the same amount of binary notation to point to 4. This argument stands for your 1 000 000 cores.
