Comment I hope it succeeds, anyone want to buy my PS5? (Score 1) 38

PSVR was great. It delivered a solid experience for cheap. The resolution was low but had decent games. VR2 has the potential to move the needle at large for consumers and developers... all things I will be watching from the sidelines because I am selling my PS5. Why? No real exclusives and no real "next gen" games other than remakes. I'll stick to PC gaming.

Stop being so dramatic. On the whole Win 10 turned it around in terms of stability and user experience. Every single company is violating privacy. If you're paranoid then use Tails or better yet air gap your system and live in the woods. I welcome the competition between XBOX Series X and PS5. I think both companies are aiming for difference subsectors within the console world. XBOX will be cross platform online gaming focused. MS said XBOX Series X won't get exclusives until two years in. Whereas PS5 will be focused on providing high quality first party titles and more of a traditional PS4 success approach.

This is why I've been contemplating switching to a feature phone and having only 1 personal computer. Maybe even get rid of a phone altogether. The problem is the rest of the world operates in the internet/smartphone paradigm, so I would be handicapping myself. But the distractions abound and continue to grow. There is no respite. Since we are all addicted to our devices, we are all equal slaves, so it doesn't really improve our lives since we are all "advancing" at the same rate.

Your comment is just the right kind of insight and cynicism. Lots of truth here. So is a career in software development not worth it in the long run? Seems like it starts nice but quickly plateaus until you get older then you're replaced. Would one be better off focusing on management, marketing, or corporate operations as soon as you get your foot in the door as a software developer?
