The governor in this state has signed over 200 executive orders this year. Most of these demanded unpopular changes to personal behavior and invasive business modifications including complete shutdowns. I realize these definitely will slow the spread of the disease when compliance is universal. However, they should have taken into account how people would respond to edicts from authority especially over many months.

It's difficult to justify following these orders post lockdown as they seem to have very little effect at the same time the government does not appear to be taking much action itself to control the disease. Daily testing has yet to be over 10k/day in a state of over 5M. I talk with Doctors who see covid patients and ask how they let the state know who they may have infected. The docs tell me the state does not want to know. There appears to be limited contact tracing in this uncontrolled community spread.

With the current increase in cases comes more executive orders, now forcing people to wear masks outside their house. There seems to be a huge disconnect with where outbreaks are happening and new rules. I have yet to see an outbreak starting outside (the state maintains a list), many of the current outbreaks happen in bars and restaurants. It seems more logical to go after the high-risk outbreaks than force more behavioral changes in the public at large.

On the plus side, our 14-day trailing death rate has been well under 1% so it appears less lethal than pre lockdown. I want them to take controlling the spread more seriously with increased testing and contact tracing rather than wait and hope a vaccine works and will be taken by a majority of people.
