This is a side subject, but it's definitely related to the death of BR...
I'm perpetually flummoxed that there is no read-only media replacement for CD/DVD/BR. If I want to get a copy of a OS installer, and I have two relatively untrusted, but unrelated machines, I can burn a DVD on one and verify the DVD signature from both. At that point, I'm confident of the DVDs contents. In the modern world of USB-everything, read-write only.. I can't very effectively prevent the two machines from attacking each other (thank you very much USB drivers) and I can't be confident that the installer wasn't modified by the last machine that touched it. Read-only media always seemed like a necessity to me, but the rest of the world seems to feel differently.
