Comment To game or not to game ? (Score 1) 100

For me, Windows is a necessary evil for only 1 thing: Gaming. I don't game on my laptop... so I'm using Fedora and entirely satisfied with the user experience. I do game on my desktop pc... so Windows 11 it is... even if I'm not especially a fan of it. Yes, I know, Steam has Proton... but I despise buying games with DRMs. So, I mostly get my games from GOG.com (I also don't use their launchers) So, vote went for Windows... But I'll just as easily use Linux if I don't plan on gaming on said machine.

Comment Why keep running ? (Score 1) 304

My server remains up 24/7 because it offers services (hosting games, ftp, streaming, etc.) so it stays up for that reason. When I get back from work, I start my desktop and I shut it down before turning in for the night... there's no reason to have a glorified 450w fan cooled rgb nightlight running while I sleep.

Comment Selling Arguement (Score 1) 65

I've been gaming for as far as I remember (born 79, got my first console in 83)... My choices of consoles has always been based on exclusive titles... And the flaw of XBox is that none of the great exclusive titles remain exclusive for long. Most of them have been ported to PC at one time or another... I got the XBox one for Killer Instinct (played on Arcade, SNES and N64... alot) so the draw to this title was enough for me to spend money for the game, console and 2 joysticks (the XB1 d-pads are horrible !)... Then it was released on PC... There's not enough exclusivity to buy an XBox... if an XBox title works/sells well, they'll port it to PC sooner than you think... Get a controller and plug it on your PC.

Reason I went, at that time, with the highest possible specs was to be sure It would last 5 years without upgrading the internal hardware (so far, only changed the keyboard and mouse, purely for comfort reasons). It's a multi-tasking workhorse that is going so well, I'm still running it on it's first Windows 7 installation. The computer's primary purpose(s): Gaming, Entertainment, Work, RDP sessions on my server, everything really...
