I have, and I've never sysprepped an existing image before migrating it. You sysprep when you need to change all the internal machine identifiers and drivers and effectively create a blank slate. I would never want to do that to an existing system I was trying to preserve by migrating it. If I wanted to do that, I would just build a parallel solution and cut over to it.

An anonymous reader writes: A military arm of the intelligence community buys commercially available databases containing location data from smartphone apps and searches it for Americans’ past movements without a warrant, according to an unclassified memo obtained by The New York Times. Defense Intelligence Agency analysts have searched for the movements of Americans within a commercial database in five investigations over the past two and a half years, agency officials disclosed in a memo they wrote for Senator Ron Wyden, Democrat of Oregon.

The disclosure sheds light on an emerging loophole in privacy law during the digital age: In a landmark 2018 ruling known as the Carpenter decision, the Supreme Court held that the Constitution requires the government to obtain a warrant to compel phone companies to turn over location data about their customers. But the government can instead buy similar data from a broker — and does not believe it needs a warrant to do so. “D.I.A. does not construe the Carpenter decision to require a judicial warrant endorsing purchase or use of commercially available data for intelligence purposes,” the agency memo said.

Mr. Wyden has made clear that he intends to propose legislation to add safeguards for Americans’ privacy in connection with commercially available location data. In a Senate speech this week, he denounced circumstances “in which the government, instead of getting an order, just goes out and purchases the private records of Americans from these sleazy and unregulated commercial data brokers who are simply above the law.” He called the practice unacceptable and an intrusion on constitutional privacy rights. “The Fourth Amendment is not for sale,” he said.

Back in 2006 when we still had the color coded threat levels, I flew from PHX to LAS and back to PHX during a red/severe period. Because it was a quick day trip I only had a carry on bag and that bag happened to be a backpack I had used the week before to go shooting. In that bag was a full 19 round magazine of 9mm FMJ that I had stuffed into a side pocket and forgotten to remove before the trip. I made it through 2 different airport security lines and xray machines without it being noticed or stopped. I didn't even notice I had left it in there myself until I got home and unpacked. However they damn sure got the bottle of contact lens cleaner I had in the same bag.

I still use my DVD subscription because with their focus oo much on original content now, a lot of recent releases never make it to Netflix streaming. I'm not paying $6 per movie to rent a recent release when I can get it on Blu Ray if I wait an extra 30-60 days. There is also a much more substantial back catalog of older content and movies that might have once been available via streaming but since dropped out of the library. Also watching the disc doesn't eat up my bandwidth. My disc queue is down to 1/5 of what it was at one point so I may drop down to 1 disc at a time instead of 3 but as long as it remains the fastest and most reliable way to get new releases I'll probably keep it.
