Your Feces Is a Wonderland of Viruses 211

sciencehabit writes "Thanks to an anlaysis of fecal samples from four sets of Missouri-born female identical twins and their mothers, researchers have concluded that human guts harbor viruses as unique as the people they inhabit; the viral lineup differs even between identical twins. Even more surprising? These viruses may be doing good work inside of us."

Zombie Macs Launch DoS Attack 757

Cludge writes "ZDNet has a story (and several related articles) about how Symantec has discovered evidence of an all-Mac based botnet that is actively involved in a DOS attack. Apparently, security on the exploited Macs (call them iBots?) was compromised when unwary users bit-torrented pirated copies of iWork 09 and Photoshop CS4 that contained malware. From the article: 'They describe this as the "first real attempt to create a Mac botnet" and note that the zombie Macs are already being used for nefarious purposes.'"

Comment It's 5 machines now (Score 1) 621

The limit was bumped up to 5 machines recently. That helps a little bit.

It would be nice though if Apple let you deauthorize a machine from their web site. People will forget to deauthorize machines before they sell them. It would be a lot easier to deauthorize via the web rather than requiring that you contact Apple.
