there are 3600+ species of mosquitos. only 300-400 species actually bite humans. only 100-150 species carry human diseases. we don't need to get rid of ALL mosquitos, just the fraction that carry human diseases. go slowly. get the worst ones first. check to see if other species or even other insects fill in the vacated ecological niches. if that goes well, then we can kill off the annoying ones.
the current crop of LLMs can "write code" the same way a 5 year old can write a novel.
when a human today says "AI can write code", there is a 100% chance that that human can NOT write code.
there's WAY MORE to "writing code" than throwing down something that looks syntactically correct.
Pichai says "25% of new code at [Google] is AI-generated, though still reviewed by engineers."
call me when human "review" is no longer necessary.
when it compiles without errors.
and does what it is supposed to do.
then i will say that "AI can write code"
just because a language is bad and confusing, doesn't mean it is popular. welcome to python, where you can't cut&paste examples because your whitespace will get mangled, and none of your variable name typos flag any errors.
