During the night portion of the orbit the view of the stars should be spectacular (with the lights off of course) but with the cupola facing Earth, as it does on the ISS, how can they see the heavens? If you study how the instruments work that 'see' these objects you find that it is very complex mathematics and algorithms that allow them to create these images, and we know from the Apollo astronauts that once outside of Earths atmosphere that no stars are visible out there at all.
