Let me second this!! Lansweeper is a truly amazing tool and is unbelievably cheap for the functionality you get. My company also runs SCCM which is fine for software deployment, imaging, and updates but pretty lame at reporting. Lansweeper is incredibly easy to use, has tons of information, a reporting interface that makes it easy to write new reports, and is being constantly improved. I cannot recommend it enough.

I plan on going peacefully in my sleep sometime in my 80's. Of course the rest of the folks in the car with me will probably be screaming....

I loved the special effects and the 3D, the first 50% of the movie was excellent. When I see aliens shoot arrows (no matter how large!) through the armored cockpit of a attack helicopter I think stupid which is what the combat scenes in this movie were. Only in the movies would something this silly make sense. What a waste to spend $300M, create fantastic new movie technology, and use this worthless story as the plot. For crying out loud, they could have driven the bulldozer into the center! Oh wait a minute, the bulldozer was disabled when 8 cameras were smashed. Talk about stupid. Nuke them from orbit, it's the only way to be sure!

sampas is exactly right. Professional help is not that expensive, my attorney takes care of the yearly filings for $200, I trade with my CPA accountant for services for the tax filings, and Quickbooks is cheap. Any of the commercial payroll services are well worth it. Filing and taking care of all this stuff is a tremendous hassle and time you could be out billing. Not to mention if you get it wrong the government holds you personally responsible. I also have an IT services firm, after 3 years and a moderate amount of success I am going back to the corporate world. Getting an IT services business to scale to something that is worthwhile is very difficult and takes years unless you are very lucky (or perhaps a lot smarter than I am!). Your customers don't understand why they need it and think it should free, you are always liable for anything that goes wrong regardless of whether it had anything to do with you, and you have to keep them super happy because the only way your business really grows is by referral.

I also put a vote in for Roboform, I use it all over the place. Now that they have the server based sync it especially rocks!

I think both you and the previous poster have great points. I went through this myself after being in the IT field for about 15 years. 2 things happened to change the situation, first I started my own company and at least I control what I do and what I get paid. The second is, and I hesitate to say this on Slashdot, I became a Christian and started to care about people a great deal more. Things have improved.
