Microsoft has fragmented their own OS "path" for the user, between XP, Vista, and 7... and the options of "Home", "Premium", etc. This only gets worse with back-end options, domain servers, exchange, sharepoint, etc... and then tack on licensing management and fees. This *alone* requires hours upon hours of staff meetings... just to get through the budget side. Now bring on migration?
This is self-inflicted...
By way of comparison, the cloud and Apple/Linux are starting to look (to management) as a smarter (and cheaper) option... because it really is.
