People need to stop answering the phone anytime someone calls. Control your phone, don't let it control you.

My family & friends are on a whitelist. When I set my phone to Do Not Disturb they can get through. Anyone else can leave a message (I have a separate, employer-provided cell phone that's turned on during business hours & scheduled on-call, turned off all other times).

I've been running a Windows vm on my Linux box for at least 10 years. Unless you're playing games or are running some very unusual software, it's an option.

There are plenty of options for file sharing. Samba supports Kerberos, & there are personal cloud solutions such as Nextcloud.

Did you consider running your own NTP server(s)? That may be a more secure option.

Do you seriously think there aren't ways to tell whether or not if a car is yours? The license plate (my front one is *in* the car plus it's personalized - I'd do a double take if I saw a similar setup), stuff in the seat(s), stuff in the back window, stickers on the car, scratches/dents, other location systems (I have one built into my car, I can use an app to start/stop the engine or even call a helpline & disable it). Even something as simple as a duplicate remote can prove it's the correct vehicle.

The thief wouldn't get a tracking notice if he doesn't have an iPhone.
