Comment Fighting a Losing Battle (Score 1) 142

Using AI for dubbing or audio books will be orders of magnitude cheaper. Voice actors can fight the trend but their days are numbered. What will happen is that celebrities will licence their voice to be used in dubbed audio, and voice actors will die as an industry. The good thing is that any book will now become accessible to those who are vision impaired, or have any other disability that impedes their ability to read a book. The benefits of AI dubbing will far exceed the need to protect Voice Actors.

Comment Universal Income Ultimately Can't Work (Score 1) 361

As soon as companies see people have extra money they raise the prices of their good and services to get that money. A good example is house prices. Single income households used to dictate the price of a home or car; so if you were a dual income family you had a real advantage to get ahead in life. But as soon as every household became dual income, companies jacked the costs of homes, cars, goods and services because those families could pay more and the companies wanted to take it. If you give people a universal income, companies will just raise their prices to make those incomes ineffective. Universal Income only works if you can lock the cost of goods and services.

Comment They Deserved to Win (Score 1) 113

So they paid for each ticket they bought, but just ensured they bought enough tickets to cover all possible winning combinations. The state took their money for each ticket, so made their money under their rules. I don't see a problem with this group winning the jackpot. They were smart about it and followed the rules. It's like someone guessing the number of jelly beans in a jar, but using math to calculate the expected number of beans for the volume of the jar. There is no foul.

Comment Advertisements in Cars is Insane (Score 1) 192

Requiring users to take their hands off the wheel to click an X to dismiss an ad is ridiculous and Stelantis knows users won't do this. What an incredibly stupid move by a car manufacturer to alienate people from buying their vehicles. I once thought about buying a jeep, but they are ridiculously overpriced now, and if they are forcing ads to appear while you drive then forget about it. What a stupid idea.

Comment Good Way to Remove Unintentional Bias. (Score 1) 102

The AI would ensure each paper gets evaluated equally, without any unintended bias by the professor. The AI could evaluate the papers poorly or evaluate them well, but at least you could say it would evaluate the papers equally, regardless of what it uses as a reference for grading the papers.
