The net of it, which I found fascinating, was the idea that brain is not "hardcoded" to the standard 5 senses of input, but rather can potentially integrate and synthesize additional sensory type data. It was the 26th Amendment that changed the voting age from 21 to 18 in the U.S. This was passed during the Vietnam War era (specifically, 1971) when 18 year old males could be drafted into and forced to serve in the military, but were not allowed to vote.
The crux of the argument to lower the voting age was: If you are old enough to fight and die for this country, you should be old enough to vote in this country.
