Journal FortKnox's Journal: The Next Bond Movie: Casino Royale 25

Looks like the next Bond will be Casino Royale. I wonder how they will change it (it is the first Bond book, and heavily involves SPECTRE IIRC).

There is talk about how Brosnan played his last Bond, but I have a feeling he'll do just one more.
Honestly, I'd HATE to see a popular actor (Orlando Bloom, Colin Farrel, etc..) as a Bond... I'm thinking someone who would do a good job (someone suggested this a long time ago) would be Clive Owens (from the movie "Closer").

  • SPECTRE (SPecial Executive for Counterintelligence, Terror, Revenge, and Extortion) never appeared in the books. It was completely an invention of the movies. In the books, Bond's nemesis organization was SMERSH, a division of the KGB (the name was a contraction of the Russian for "Death to Spies", roughly rendered as Smiert Shpionam). Compare the book From Russia with Love, where the plot to kill Bond is a SMERSH initiative, while the movie has the same characters as SPECTRE doubles within Russian intel

  • Meesa Bond! James-a Bond!!

I would like to thank all of you who have supported me over the last year or so in regard to my playing Bond. It was a decade of my life that I will always hold dear to my heart and a time that will never be forgotten. And you dear friends stood by me throughout. Many, many thanks! But everything comes to an end, and one must accept this decision which cannot be dealt with in any other way but with some kind of grace and knowledge that I did the job to the best of my ability.

  • Jude Law's name is also usually thrown around. He would not be so bad- and as one of my friends said, "If Jude Law was James Bond they could make 4 or 5 a year!"

Please, just not Bloom or Colin Crackhead.

  • Someone told me once that watching Clive Owens you'll notice he's a ham. A good ham, but a ham. To her, Clive Owens would be the second coming of Roger Moore. Not a bad thing in my book.

Personally I think the American Matthew McConaughey would do a bang-up job. My pick after that is Hugh Jackman. Both are extremely versitile actors who can be tough, smarmy, likable and generally have fun with the role. These would be the Sean Connery style Bonds.

Julian Sands is another good choice. To me he'd be the secon
    • McConaughy? Can I have some of what you're smoking?

I always figured Clive Owen since he did those BMW commercials.

      • Clive isn't a bad choice, but he's not first on my list. Not even second. Come to think of it, of those mentioned he's close to last after Julian Sands, but that is a real short list.
