Its been a while since I've done CSS (I'm a backend kinda guy). Where do you guys go to help out your css? Any place to just get a premade quality css? I hearda a place like the 'css zen garden' or something of the like.

Kinda depends on your HTML. I usually code from scratch on my own based on someone else's drawn design. Try searching for 'css templates'.

A List Apart [alistapart.com] usually has quality articles on CSS. Check each article's comments for even better techniques.

Then there's the CSS Panic Guide [thenoodleincident.com]. Don't leave home without it.

If you want premade stuff I have no idea. I usually just recycle what I've done previously and tweak to my wants.

Occasionally I see something neat on a website I'm visiting. If that's the case it isn't difficult to get the source at all. Just a peek to see what they're doing in CSS and then I do it myself, looking further at w3c if I have to. I don't wholesale copy. :)

Code reuse

I have been building on a style.css since 1999, with different classes defining little tricks that I have picked up. For most html design jobs, getting a suitable mock-up for the customer and then actually moving their content to it is the problem, the base page templates take almost no time.

Think of it as your own little C/C++ library/header files (or jslib for you mozilla hackers).

I use the free crippled [bradsoft.com] version of a css editor called Top Style Lite [bradsoft.com]. For being free, it's a big help.

I don't know if it's hip, but my no. 1 resource for CSS is straight form the author's mouths: Cascading Style Sheets: Designing for the Web [amazon.com]. There are some mistakes, but they are easy to catch and the text explains CSS well. I also recommend checking out the specs [w3.org] directly; they are highly readable and contain numerous examples. Everything else is just a supplement. (Note: Info on browser quirks can be found almost everywhere. I suggest starting with css-discuss's wiki [incutio.com].)
