The perceived time might not be an irrelevant figure, even when it doesn't match the wall clock time:"Test subjects consistently report that keyboarding is faster than mousing.
The stopwatch consistently proves mousing is faster than keyboarding."
Any hitch in the UI process can derail the user's thought process. Maybe it is not that keyboarding is faster, but that it is less distracting?
