Journal Flamesplash's Journal: Spring Classes 2

Registration starts thur for me, not that anyone actually told me. This school really makes me wonder some times. No email, no nothing tell me that registration is coming up. Nothing from the department saying the class listing was finally available or anything about advisement. Oh then there are the 2 or 3 different registration periods. Still haven't figured that one out.

Anyway. I've picked out the classes I'd like to take alread, I just hope I can get into them

1. HCI - Breadth Requirement. At first I wasn't looking forward to this at all, but most of my friends are in it, and while it's a lot of work and may still not be fun I can see the utility of it and will at least try to make something useful of the class.

2. AI Problem solving. Guessing the name is fairly straight forward.

3. Machine Learning. Straight Forward.

4. Intro. to Cognitive Science. How we think, reason and solve. :)

I'll be happy if I get all 4 of these. While I have to take HCI and I'm sure I'll learn from it, the other three I actually want to take. I won't be in anything that has little application like my Compiler optimization class is now. I have no clue why I took it.

  • That sounds really, really cool. I tend to think about things like that every once in a while but it sometimes scares me. Analyzing exactly how I work makes me too aware of my own mortality and how fragile I really am, in mind and body. Probably a good reason I'm not a doctor ... I don't think I could deal with that everyday.
    • What I wonder though is if I will be able to stop thinking about it once I know the inner workings. The sun is a beautiful object, but when you realize it's a nuclear reaction on a huge scale with gases flowing around it is still beautiful, but not the same.

I tend to think about why I think what I think a bit, I wonder if this will make me think things more accurately or just more.

A budget is just a method of worrying before you spend money, as well as afterward.
